About Tatus
About the Team
Every year 1065 participates in the Florida Regional held on the beautiful University of Central Florida campus. During the three day period, there are practice matches, seeding matches, and if you are very successful in the seeding matches, you have the opportunity to move on to the Semi-Finals, then Quarter-Finals and then, the finals.
In our first year, our major sponsor was Walt Disney World's Ride and Show Engineering department. Ever since our first year we have been trying to fend for our self monies wise. Some of our fund raisers have entailed running a summer camp for local middle schoolers to try and get them into the idea of FIRST and excited about science and technology. Another fund raiser was we would sell cookies during the lunch periods at TECO/PATHS, this fund raiser was beneficial in many ways since it helped us raise money for the team and gave the students an idea of how to sell a product.
In 2004 before the 2005 game was released a local team had lost most of their mentoring influence and a severe drop in member count. After this series of unfortunate events, Tatsu made the decision to allow the remaining members re-join FIRST by becoming apart of our team.
Students from Osceola High School and The Professional and Technical High School now make up our student body.

Community Outreach
In 2005 students attended NASA's space week for middle school students. The group of students made a small presentation to many groups of middle schoolers throughout the day. Their presentations included explaining the ideals of FIRST and about our team in particular. They also demonstrated a robot that they had made using one of the LegoŽ kits the team is in possession of. Along side the speaking and demonstration they also let a few of them test drive our 2003 competition robot while the 2004 robot stood on the side as a display.
Also the summer of 2005, Team 1065 sponsored a Summer Camp for local middle schoolers. During this summer camp the students were allowed to imagine and design a LegoŽ Mindstorms robot. They were also given the challenge of programming these simple robots to complete tasks such as line tracking and dead reckoning.
